For decades, Alexandria Brighton has studied, taught, and formulated in the world of aromatherapy and botanical wellness.

A Life in Botanical Study

Long before the products, there was the work.

Alexandria's path began in the early 1970s and moved through clinical work, herbal study, aromatherapy, formulation, teaching, and decades of continued learning.

The chronology below reflects the history preserved in Green Organics, goDesana, and Heart & Body Naturals materials. This page will continue to grow as additional archival materials are catalogued.

Early 1970s

The beginning

Alexandria participated in a study group led by oncologist Dr. Paul Wedel, beginning a path into traditional and alternative approaches to wellness.

Early 1980s

Clinical and herbal work

She established The Degenerative Disease Clinic in Mexico and continued her herbal education through Dr. John Christopher's Herbal Medicine course. That work led to an herbal pharmacy of her own.

Late 1980s

From herbs into aromatherapy

Her pharmacy grew into a supplement business while Alexandria expanded into essential oils and aromatherapy, seeking education from French and English practitioners and formulating tinctures, teas, supplements, and aromatic blends.

Early 1990s

Formulation and education

Alexandria moved into a new chapter centered on education, quality, and safety. Company histories record that by this time she had developed more than 100 aromatherapy blends and was sourcing essential oils through a French laboratory operated by a biochemist.

1990s onward

Teaching, travel, and contract formulation

After returning to Idaho, Alexandria continued as an educator and contracted formulator for companies in the natural products, cosmetic, spa, perfumery, and direct-selling worlds. Her studies also took her through Northern India and the Himalayas with a focus on aromatherapy and Ayurvedic medicine.

2012

A partnership with Green Organics

Alexandria entered into a partnership with Paula and Ben Scarcella to offer her formulations exclusively through goDesana. The relationship brought her teaching and formulation work into the Green Organics community.

2014

The formulas themselves

Green Organics archival material records March 2014 as the point when Alexandria entrusted the company with her formulations, an important distinction from the partnership that began earlier.

2017

Heart & Body Naturals

The collaboration expanded with Heart & Body Naturals, including the original Healing Trilogy of Mind, Body, and Soul.

Today

The work carries forward

Alexandria's essential oil formulations and botanical legacy remain part of the goDesana and HBN collections now brought together within Zilara.

The Formulator

More than putting good oils together.

Alexandria's work has always centered on the finished formulation: understanding the plants, their naturally occurring constituents, their relationships to one another, and how the whole blend functions together.

A constituent-based approach

For Alexandria, an essential oil blend is not simply a collection of aromas. Oil selection is informed by the naturally occurring chemical constituents present in each oil and the role each one contributes to the completed formula.

That same emphasis on sourcing, composition, safety, and synergy shaped the education she shared with students and consultants over the years.

Botanical identity, origin, and the character of the plant matter.

Know the chemistry

Naturally occurring constituents help inform how an oil is selected.

Formulate the whole

The finished blend matters more than a list of individual ingredients.

Teach safe use

Education and responsible use have remained recurring themes in her work.

A body of work leaves a trail.

Alexandria’s body of work extends beyond individual products. It reflects decades spent studying plants, essential oils, naturally occurring constituents, formulation, and responsible use.

That work also lives in years of recorded teaching, product education, photographs, company history, and the recollections of people who studied and worked with her.

The names have changed. The body of work behind them has not disappeared.
